This talk will trace the discovery of the Lakes from the earliest traveller’s accounts, through the guide book revolution to the present day and the consequences of social media.

About the speaker:
Maurice George is a retired nuclear engineer, an active member of the Armitt Friends and an avid researcher of the history of the Lake District. He has previously given talks on Railways and the Lake District and reminiscences on changes in the Lakes over the last 50 years.
