The Armitt has launched a competition, aimed at young people, to design the publicity for the new 2022 exhibition “The Pull of the Fells: Overcoming the mountains and the mind”.

The exhibition is about showcasing outdoor activities in the Lake District, particularly fell walking, rock climbing, and mountaineering. It will cover the history of these pursuits, the literary connections, the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the relationship between people’s mental and physical wellbeing and spending time outside.

The Armitt is looking to find one standout design to incorporate into the exhibition marketing material. The winning entry will not only receive £100, but their design and credit will appear on all publicity relating to the exhibition, including posters, banners, leaflets, and the introduction panel to the display in the museum. Furthermore, the winner will get free entry to The Armitt, and its events, for one year, as well as receive a special invitation to the exhibition pre-launch for themselves and up to 4 guests.

We can’t wait to see the unique and eye-catching designs from talented young people in the area. We hope this will be a platform for the competition winner – whether they are an artist, illustrator, graphic designer, or someone with a great idea – to inspire others, get their work noticed, and go on to bigger and better things.

The competition brief can be downloaded below. The deadline for submissions is Sunday 16 January 2022 and the winner will be announced before the end of the month.
