Discover what happened to the Rigg family when they suddenly and mysteriously disappeared from the famous tiny Bridge House in Ambleside.
The Armitt: Museum, Gallery, Library in Ambleside is launching a brand-new experience in the Bridge House – an ‘escape room in a box’, starting Sunday 25th May.
To solve ‘The Bridge House Mystery’ players will have to complete fiendish puzzles to uncover a tale as chilling as the shadows cast by Bridge House itself. The immersive game is designed to be played in 90 minutes making it perfect for families, friends and colleagues. It’s for those aged 8+ and for 2-4 players.
The exciting concept takes a traditional Escape Room but in an ‘escape INTO’ format where everything – puzzles, clues and locks – are contained within a box, or in this case, an old box, all while being ‘trapped’ inside the iconic 17th century Bridge House.
‘The Bridge House Mystery’ is inspired by the “true” story of the Rigg family whose home in the Bridge House was filled with the laughter of six children. Combining this with a fictional narrative, the puzzles relate to true life functions of the Bridge House through time. In this way, The Armitt has created a distinctive and intriguing experience.
Can you help solve what happened to the Rigg in The Armitt’s game and uncover the “truth”?
Faye Morrissey, the Manager & Curator of The Armitt said, “The Bridge House is the most photographed building in the Lake District and we’re privileged to have the opportunity to bring this new experience to the visitors of Ambleside. If you’ve always wondered what it was like inside the tiny house, now you can not only see it for yourself, but you can interact with our escape room in a box activity. Come rain or shine, this will be THE experience to do when in the town”.
This project has received funding from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and administered by Westmorland & Furness Council’s Thrive with Arts, Heritage and Culture fund.
Make your booking through The Armitt’s website – www.armitt.com – for groups between 2-4 people and ages 8+.
